The centre of the village of Damala preserves a 10th century single-nave church. Itis bulit of nealty cut basalt stone arranged in even courses. The masonry is badly damaged.

The church used to have doors with tympana in the south and in the west, however the openings are now destroyed. There is a window on the east. Outlines of other windows are damaged. The longitudinal walls are divided by means of pilasters. The chancel apse is semi-circular. The upper portions of the church walls are ruined, and the arches and the vault have collapsed.
