Akori Church is located 2km away from the village of Akori, on a flat area of the hill slope from where a panoriamic view of the Debeda Gorge can be seen. There are no epigraphic inscriptions on the church though obvious stylistic affinity with 13th century Georgian churches testifies the Georgian origin of the church. The three-nave basilica is remarkable for its east façade with three niches and traditional decoration. The corners are marked with paired colonettes forming a circular knot at the middle point. The south and west openings are enclosed with richly ornamented frames; the north door is plain. The wall masonry is of neatly hewn grey stone arranged in horizontal courses.
