Ruins of a cross-domed church survive on the grounds of a fortress erected on a cliff incline in the  provincial centre of Ispir, historically called Sper. An old mosque is located nearby. The church building has a projecting apse, a central chancel and apses accommodating pastophoria. A fairly large narthex survives on the west. The east walls retain square, neatly hewn yellowish facing stones arranged in horizontal courses. The sanctuary is pentagonal in shape, and the lateral apses are semi-circular.

The church was presumably built in the 9th-10th century.
