Kumi Basilica is located in the centre of the village inhabited by Lezgians, on the left bank of the Kumis Tskali mountain river.

The Ingolos also call the the church as Kumi Dada Ghvtisa (Kumi Mother of God).

The church is a three-nave basilica. It finds an affinity with Bolnisi and Vazisubani churches in terms of planning composition and architectural forms. It can be said that the church repeats the planning composition of Bolnisi and Vazisubani churches.

Kumi Basilica is one of the most splendid works of Georgian monumental architecture of the 6th-7th century. The building is now conserved.
