Perched on the top of the hill, Dedasheni complex overlooks Kola and the origin of the Mtkvari River. The area around the church preserves traces of structures, as well as a circuit wall of a large diameter and a gate the remannts of the masonry of which contain ceramic pipes.

The remaining parts suggest that the church was a basilica of a large size and had a pentagonal projecting apse. The sanctuary is visibly horseshoe-shaped. It is flanked by pastophoria located in the east corners of the lateral narrow naves. Regrettably, only the ruins of the east part survivewhich has fully lost its facing.

The surviving plan can be tentatively dated to the early Middle Ages.
