Akori Church is located 2km away from the village of Akori, on a flat area of the hill slope from where a panoriamic view of the Debeda Gorge can be seen. There are no epigraphic inscriptions on the church though obvious stylistic affinity with 13^th century Georgian churches testifies the Georgian origin of the church. The three-nave basilica is remarkable for its east façade with three niches and traditional decoration. The corners are marked with paired colonettes forming a circular knot at the middle point. The south and west openings are enclosed with richly ornamented frames; the north door is plain. The wall masonry is of neatly hewn grey stone arranged in horizontal courses.
